El mexicano Luis Alberto Rivera-Leal<\/strong> se declar\u00f3 culpable<\/strong> de pertenecer a una banda de traficantes<\/strong> responsable de transportar a decenas de migrantes<\/strong> en un cami\u00f3n sin<\/strong> ventilaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, que culmin\u00f3 con la muerte de 47 adultos y seis ni\u00f1os en Texas<\/strong> en 2022, inform\u00f3 el Departamento de Justicia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rivera-Leal, de 38 a\u00f1os, se declar\u00f3 culpable de conspirar para traficar<\/strong> indocumentados<\/strong>, lo que result\u00f3 en la tragedia migratoria m\u00e1s grande ocurrida en Estados Unidos hasta el momento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El mexicano era miembro de la banda<\/strong> criminal<\/strong> responsable del fallido intento de llevar a los migrantes desde la frontera hacia el interior de Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rivera Leal, conocido bajo el alias de \u2018Cowboy<\/strong>\u2019, era encargado de reunirse con el conductor del cami\u00f3n que traer\u00eda a los migrantes hasta San Antonio para luego transportarlos en peque\u00f1os grupos a Houston, seg\u00fan detallan documentos judiciales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pero la operaci\u00f3n<\/strong> se frustr\u00f3 cuando el conductor que tra\u00eda a los migrantes desde la frontera dej\u00f3 abandonado el cami\u00f3n en una carretera dejandodo a 66 extranjeros atrapados en el interior sin agua y ventilaci\u00f3n adecuada, en medio del calor sofocante en San Antonio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rivera Leal es el cuarto acusado que se declara culpable<\/strong> en este caso y se enfrenta a una pena m\u00e1xima de 20 a\u00f1os de prisi\u00f3n.
Riley Covarrubias-Ponce, de 31 a\u00f1os, detenido junto a Rivera Leal; Christian Mart\u00ednez, de 30; y Juan Francisco D\u2019Luna-Bilbao, de 49 a\u00f1os, admitieron sus roles en el incidente y proporcionaron informaci\u00f3n vital para el caso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homero Zamorano Jr., de 47 a\u00f1os, quien era el conductor<\/strong> del cami\u00f3n; Felipe Ordu\u00f1a Torres, de 29; y Armando Gonzales Ortega, de 54 a\u00f1os, tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n siendo procesados en el caso y esperan un juicio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
