Nairobi (EFE).- \u201cSi nuestro planeta fuera un paciente, estar\u00eda ingresado en cuidados intensivos\u201d, advirti\u00f3 este jueves el director general de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, en Nairobi ante la VI Asamblea de la ONU para el Medio Ambiente (UNEA-6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSus signos vitales son alarmantes\u201d, afirm\u00f3 Tedros en la apertura del segmento de alto nivel de la UNEA-6, principal organismo de toma de decisiones ambientales del mundo, ante una decena de jefes de Estado y Gobierno africanos y ministros de todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHay fiebre, y cada uno de los \u00faltimos nueve meses ha sido el m\u00e1s caluroso registrado\u201d y \u201csu capacidad pulmonar se ve comprometida, con la destrucci\u00f3n de los bosques que absorben di\u00f3xido de carbono y producen ox\u00edgeno\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 el responsable de la OMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tedros record\u00f3 que \u201cmuchas de las fuentes de agua de la Tierra \u2013su elemento vital\u2013 est\u00e1n contaminadas\u201d y alert\u00f3 de que \u201clo m\u00e1s preocupante de todo es que su estado se est\u00e1 deteriorando r\u00e1pidamente\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
